Bridge Academy
serves Weatherford ISD students as the Disciplinary Alternative
Education Placement (DAEP). This program operates from a
solution focused orientation working with students, parents, and
teachers to identify strengths and replicate positive choices.
The Bridge staff includes: a coordinator, counselor, 4 content
area teachers, Special Education / ESL teacher, and an office
manager. Upon return to the home campus, the Bridge staff
maintains contact with the students and the campus staff in
order to support the students in continuing to make positive
choices.
Three main components of the
Bridge Academy are:

Level System
-
Bridge Academy operates on a level system. The level
system is designed to help students make positive choices
and have a successful educational experience. This system
consists of levels 1-4. Within each level a student has
the opportunity to earn points for exhibiting desired
classroom expectations. After a designated number of
points are earned a student may petition to move up to the
next level. Each level earns more privileges than the
previous. At level 4 the student is expected to maintain a
high performance of academic and behavioral expectations.
Should a student fail to maintain a 25 point minimum of a
30 point daily standard for any 3 days in a one week
period, the student will be moved back down in the level
system.

Service Learning
-
On
levels 3 and 4 students may participate in Service
Learning. Service Learning is a way to help students make
the connection between the curriculum and real world
situations. They will have the unique experience of
realizing how education relates to their world. The
students will design and build projects that benefit the
community. When the project is completed, the district
will have students who have been empowered to be authentic
learners and have learned the importance of giving back to
their community.
