Weatherford High School senior signs with Rice Basketball

Kara Lawrence, senior co-captain of the Lady Roo basketball team, signed a National Letter of Intent with Rice University on Wednesday, November 9. 

Last year, Lawrence led the Lady Roos with an average of 17.1 points a game and 7.9 rebounds.  She had a 71-percent free throw average, and was the team’s leading shot blocker. 

Her outstanding talent led her to being selected to the 4-5A first team all district basketball team for the 2004-2005 season and was the most dominant post in the district.   

Lawrence is the daughter of Dan and Jane Lawrence of Weatherford.  She is very active at Weatherford High School, participating in several organizations including the Roo Crew and Leadership Council.    

In the fall of 2006, Lawrence will be joining the Rice University Lady Owls basketball team, her first choice of schools.
