WHS Sophomore Wins 1st in State for Costume
Design
Weatherford High
sophomore, Caitlin Zellers, was recently awarded first place in state
in costume design by the Texas Educator’s Theatre Association.
Zellers displayed three costumes and 10 design boards for the contest
at the annual TETA conference in Austin.
The designs that
earned Zellers this honor were for the WHS production of “Little Shop
of Horrors” that ran last semester. The drama department used seven
of her 15 designs for the show.
Nine WHS students
attended the conference in Austin, accompanied by WISD drama teachers
Catherine O’Bryan and Angela Arthurs.
The TETA DesignFest
allows high school and college students to display their work, as well
as gives them a chance to speak with colleges about scholarship
opportunities. The design contest has both high school and
college categories, and is the only contest of its kind in the state.
Currently the WHS
drama department is working on a One-Act Play for the UIL competition
in March called "Booby Trap."
Congratulations to
Caitlin Zellers and the entire WHS drama department for their hard
work in the area of Fine Arts!
