Andrew Pool named principal of Wright
Elementary
The Weatherford Independent School District Board of Trustees
approved the appointment of the new Wright Elementary School
Principal, Andrew Pool. Mr. Pool was previously the
assistant principal at Seguin Elementary and has served the district
for a total of seven years.
A graduate of Tyler Junior College and Tarleton State University,
Mr. Pool began his teaching career in 1989 at the Weatherford High
School as an agricultural science teacher. After four years, he
left his position in the educational field to gain experience in the
corporate world where he worked for approximately six months.
"I gained a much-needed insight into the world of corporate
business and developed my public relations and managerial skills
more during this time than any other in my life. I do feel,
however, the most important lesson I learned from working in the
corporate world was that my place in the work force should be in
the public school system," states Mr. Pool.
Re-entering the realm of public education in 1993, Mr. Pool was
employed by Schulenburg ISD and Santo ISD as both an agricultural
science teacher and a career and technology spokesperson.
His first assistant principalship was at Travis Elementary in the
Mineral Wells ISD and returned to the Weatherford ISD in 2002 as
assistant principal at Seguin Elementary.
Wright Elementary, built in 1980, is home to more than 580
students and named for Mr. Bill W. Wright, be-loved elementary
principal who served the district for nearly 50 years.
