WISD Board of Trustees Swear in New Members

Dave Cowley and Kip Hooks were sworn in at a special called board meeting on May 16 at
8:00 a.m. as the newest members of the WISD Board of Trustees.

"We welcome Mr. Cowley and Mr. Hooks.  I know that these men will have a great impact on what is already an exceptional board," states Holly Teague, assistant superintendent of human resources and administration.

Mr. Cowley and his wife have lived in Weatherford since 1999.  He is a graduate of Jacksboro High School and is currently employed with TexasBank as the Marketing and Public Relations Officer.  Mr. Cowley serves on the Board of Directors for numerous civic organizations, is president of the WISD Partners in Education, and is a member of the Rotary Club and Peach Festival Steering Committee.  Mr. Cowley has a son, Mark, and a daughter, Stephanie, who currently attends Weatherford College.

Mr. Hooks moved to Weatherford in 1994 and is involved in many district activities including Partners in Education, the district's strategic planning committee, campus improvement team and the educational improvement committee.  In addition, Mr. Hooks also serves on the board of directors for the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce as chamber ambassador and is a member of the Rotary Club.  He is a graduate of Texas Christian University.  Mr. Hooks and his wife DeeDee have three children, Hunter, Kayd, and Trip.

In addition to swearing in two new members, the board reseated Mrs. Rachel R. Johnson as President, Mr. Bob Guess as Vice-President and Mr. Charlie Martinez as Secretary.  The first official board meeting for the 2005-2006 WISD Board of Trustees will be on June 9, 7 p.m., in the District Services Building at 1100 Longhorn Drive.
