David Hebert Takes 3rd in State Cross Country Meet
David Hebert competed in the Cross Country State Championship Meet on
Saturday, November 13. Hebert placed third overall, bringing the
bronze medal home to Weatherford and completed the 3.1 mile course in
15:18, a new personal best.
Hebert's cross country career began
4 years ago as a freshman at Weatherford High School where he was an
immediate success. Hebert has accomplished some incredible
feats. During his sophomore year, he won the district meet,
placed 4th at regionals, and placed 7th at state.
"Placing 7th at
state that year is definitely a high point in my cross country
career," stated Hebert.
This year Hebert continues to set
new personal bests and records. He won district again and placed
4th at Regionals. This was the launching point to clenching
third at state and yet another high point in Hebert's cross country
career.
On November 27, Hebert will be
competing at the Footlocker South Regional Championships in North
Carolina. A top ten finish will earn him a trip to the National
Championships in December.
Though Hebert as already gone far
as a WHS Senior, he plans to go even further. His long-term
plans include running Cross Country and Track at Texas A&M University,
majoring in business and possibly competing in the Olympics.
