WISD Announces Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Registration for the
2005-2006 school year will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, from
9:00-11:00 a.m. and 6:00–7:30 p.m. Parents/Guardians need to bring
their child's birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of
residency in the WISD to be able to register their child for
kindergarten.
Kindergarten students must be five years
old by September 1, 2005. Registration will take place at home
attendance zones. For information on the elementary school that
serves a particular address, parents/guardians should call
817/598-2803 or log on to
www.weatherfordisd.com and click on "Parents", then click on
"Locate the Elementary and Middle School that serves your address."
On
Tuesday, April 12, Outreach Health Services of Weatherford will be
offering immunizations at Curtis Elementary only. The charge is
$14.85 for one vaccine and $20.00 for more more than one. This
is a very important service as there will be no grace period for
vaccines in the 2005-2006 school year. Current vaccine records
will be required for the student to attend the first day of class and
no exceptions will be made.
Shelia Carter, WISD Nursing Coordinator states,
"The Weatherford ISD has the
obligation to meet the immunization laws set by the Texas Department
of State Health Services. They require that all students meet Texas
standards to enroll and remain enrolled in public schools. Their
guidelines do not allow local flexibility." She went on to
say, "It is our goal that all students will have full access to
health care and will benefit from the preventative measures
available in the community."
For further information concerning names
and locations of immunization clinics, please access the
Immunization Clinic link on the
district website. All questions concerning registration may be
directed to the Office of Student Services or the home campus
location.
