January
is School Board Recognition Month
Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed
January as School Board Recognition Month and Weatherford Independent
School District is joining other districts across the state to
gratefully acknowledge their commitment to our communities and
schools.
Board Members
establish and design a structure for the education program, ensure
that schools are accountable to the community, and strongly advocate
continuous improvement in student learning. This job requires the
Board Members of Weatherford ISD to contribute countless hours each
year which deserve recognition and thanks for their dedication to the
continuing success of our students and schools.
The WISD Board
unselfishly contributes their time and talents for the advancement of
public education, making their number one goal to provide the best
education possible for all of the WISD students. Focused tightly on
student learning, they also ensure that our district wisely plans for
spending education dollars, resulting in a fiscally sound district
that is focused on student achievement.
In order to
recognize the Board for their outstanding efforts, all WISD campuses
have adopted a member and will host them for lunch. Another
tradition to WISD for Board Recognition Month is to adorn the board
room with banners and cards made by students in appreciation of these
individuals.
“The Trustees work
hard, care about our children, and stand as one of the greatest assets
to our community. We have an outstanding group of people that are
focused on forging excellence for every student of the WISD,” Cron
stated.
The individuals that proudly serve Weatherford ISD are
Mac Smith, president; Bob Guess, vice president; Charlie Martinez,
secretary; Carroll Dawson; Yale Young; Rachel R. Johnson; and Julie
Sellers. In January, join with others
throughout our district and state to salute the men and women who give
so tirelessly of their time to ensure that all students of WISD
receive a quality education.
