Chip Evans, Ph.D.

Director of Community Education

Chip has been with Weatherford ISD since 2002 and assumed the position of Director of Community Education in June, 2007.  Dr. Evans began his career in education in  1978, teaching for seven years prior to becoming a school administrator. He oversees all Community Education programs which also includes the Adult Education and Kids Unite After-school and summer programs, and the Virtual Campus for online high school credit. His wife is a teacher in WISD and his stepson attends Weatherford High School.

 


Jody Lafferty

Administrative Assistant

Jody is the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Community Education.  She keeps the office running smoothly and tends to the many daily details and duties involved in running multi programs from one office.  Jody has been with Community Education since 1994 and is a Nebraska native, moving to Weatherford  in 1994 due to her husband's job transfer. Jody has two grown daughters and five grandchildren.

 


Carla Stone

Community Ed Program Development

Carla began working with Community Ed in 1989.  Her primary responsibilities are programming classes for Community Education, preparing publications for print, and developing a web site for Community Education's many program activities. Email Carla with any additional program ideas you may have, or if you would like to teach a Community Ed class. Carla married her high school sweetheart in 1974 and the couple have three grown children, all of which graduated from good ole WHS,  and two grandsons. 

 


Anita Thompson

Registrar

Anita joined the Community Ed team in March, 2007.  Her main duties at Community Ed is that of registrar to the Com Ed and Kids Unite programs, as well as receptionist and greeter to those coming into the office.  Anita is a WHS graduate and has one daughter who attends WISD.
 


Jennifer Holcomb

KIDS UNITE
Youth Program Coordinator

Jennifer started with the Community Ed Youth Program 1990.  In 1992, she became Assistant Camp Director and began working with the after-school program.  In 1998 she assumed the role of Kids Unite Program Coordinator.  Jennifer's love for children and people shows in the outstanding way she has helped develop and expand the youth program into what it is today.
 


Shelly Meehan

KIDS UNITE
Youth Program Supervisor

Shelly started with Community Ed as a Summer Camp Director  in 1993. Her work has evolved over the years into being a huge part of the after-school program. Shelly has also taught parenting classes for Community Ed through the years.  She has one daughter, Madeline, who attends Texas Tech University.
 


Donnie McGowen

Adult Education Supervisor

Donnie supervises the Adult Education program for the WISD Adult Ed Cooperative.  He began working with adult education in 1993, planning, training, and coordinating with school districts in Parker and Palo Pinto Counties to provide adult education services.

 


Suzanne Nottingham

Data Entry Specialist

Suzanne can help you with Adult Education questions.  As the data entry (ACES) specialist for the Adult Education program, she reports all attendance and grades to the Texas Education Agency in Austin.  Suzanne and husband have a two children attending Texas Tech.
