506 Business Computer Information Systems I* (BCIS1-TP) Two Semesters: Grades 10-12 *-Tech Prep College Credit Prerequisite: Keyboarding Proficiency Requirement for graduation - This course fulfills 1 credit of Technology Applications Students apply technology skills to personal/workplace business situations focused on word processing, spreadsheet, database, telecommunications, desktop publishing, presentation management, networking, operating systems and emerging technologies. Students should complete the course with an intermediate skill level in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. 682 Health Science Technology I * (HSTI-TP) Two semesters: Grades 10-12 * Tech Prep College Credit Prerequisite: None Requirement for graduation - This course fulfills Health Education (1 semester course) Health Science Technology 1 is designed to provide an introduction to the concepts and skills necessary for entering health care occupations. The program includes the study of anatomy and physiology, CPR, first aid and vital signs. Guest speakers and field trips are part of this program. 683 Health Science Technology II * (HSTII-TP) Two semesters--two periods each semester Grades 11-12 * Tech Prep College Credit Pre-requisite: HST I Requirement for graduation: This course fulfills 1.0 credit in P.E. In this course, students observe and gain firsthand knowledge in a variety of health care occupations. Students rotate through a series of on-the-job observations in health care occupations, such as veterinarians' offices, doctors' offices and hospital departments. 684 Health Science Technology III / Medical Assisting * (HST3MATP) Two semesters: Two periods each semester Grade: 12 * Tech Prep College Credit Pre-requisite: HST I & II Certification: CNA- Certified Nurse Assistant Certification This course is designed for students to gain articulation college credit with Weatherford College in Introduction to Radiology and Medical Terminology. Curriculum is focused on the radiology field of medicine and developing a common language base to be used in the medical field. The Radiology semester may be exchanged for Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) training. CNA training covers general nursing and patient care principles. This is a professional certificate used for immediate employment and enhances a college application. 685 Anatomy and Physiology of Human Systems (ANAT&PHY) Two Semesters: Grades 11-12 Prerequisite: None This science elective leads students to discover how science has built a vast body of changing and increasing knowledge described by physical, mathematical and conceptual models. Curriculum shows that science may not answer all questions. Pre-requisites: Biology I and Chemistry I. |
