660 Automotive Technician 1* (AUTOTEC) Two Semesters: Grades 11-12 * Tech Prep College Credit Prerequisite: None
Certification: ASE Certification in Brakes and This two period automotive lab course offers job-specific training in the use of hand/power tools, safety and equipment operation. Students will be able to gain national certification in two areas of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Youth training program during their first year. Curriculum will cover brakes and electrical systems. Career opportunities and leadership skills will also be explored. Training will provide students with an opportunity to prepare for the National ASE Certification test in two areas. Students may have the chance to work at local automotive dealerships between their junior and senior year during the summer break. 661 Automotive Technician 2* (AUTOTEC2) Two Semesters: Grades -12 * Tech Prep College Credit Prerequisite: Auto Tech I Certification: ASE Certification in Steering and Suspension Systems and Engine Performance Students will receive additional training in two different areas of the ASE automotive curriculum covering electrical systems and engine performance. The second year is a two period class. Students who complete the curriculum will be qualified to be employed as an entry level service technician or to pursue post-secondary education in the automotive technology industry. Students may apply to take the National ASE Certification test in steering and suspension systems and engine performance during the second year in the automotive program. |
